Jewellery Restoration & Repairs
Here at Pinn Studio we have a passion for repairing fine jewellery and enjoy bringing old or second hand jewellery back to life. We offer a unique bespoke jewellery repair service ranging from a simple solder to a complicated restoration.
Your jewellery will be repaired here on site by our goldsmith Matt who has 30 years of experience at the bench and pays meticulous attention to detail. We will give you an estimation of the cost either at the time you come in or later by telephone or email. Following quotation there is absolutely no obligation to proceed.
Our services include:
Ring Resizing: available for silver, gold or platinum rings. We also will advise on complicated resizing such as full circle diamond rings or those with engraving on the band. We also provide new half and full shanks when the original one has worn through.
Stone Replacement: It is a shame not to wear a piece of jewellery because it has a stone missing. We can search our suppliers to match your stone; we will replace the missing or damaged stone and clean your piece of jewellery ready for wear again.
Repair and Solder: of broken chains, pendants, charms or replacement of worn out links, clasps or closures.
Restring: of pearls and gemstone beads. With time and normal wear the chords of pearl necklaces can become brittle and collect dirt. We can check the clasps and clean and rethread the pearls bringing them back to their former glory.
Clean and check: like anything else jewellery is exposed to wear and tear. Don’t risk losing your precious stones. It only takes us a short time to check your jewellery so that we can assess for signs of damage and suggest a suitable repair before it becomes a serious problem. Over time wedding and engagement rings that are worn constantly can collect considerable amount of dirt making them look dull – a clean and polish will transform your ring so that when you leave it sparkles and looks like new.
Restoration: this includes restoration of antiques, claw replacements, repairing settings, restoring galleries and new quarter/half bands or full bands where the ring has worn thin. Our most recent addition to the workshop is a laser welder. By using the laser welder we are able to do complex repairs that might otherwise not have been done.

I was first introduced to Matt and Maria Pinn when my friends commissioned a bracelet and pendant for my birthday to be made to their own original design. Matt’s creative interpretation of the design resulted in two exquisite and original pieces of jewellery that I am very proud to wear.
Since then he has transformed some silver and pearl starfish earrings that were too heavy and uncomfortable to wear in to a beautiful brooch and pendant.
Matt has the vision to transform your ideas in to reality and his prices are also very fair.– Salisbury, Wiltshire
Thank you Matt, what an amazing surprise on our 25th wedding anniversary when Nev gave me the most beautiful ring – designed and made by you. Not only is it truly beautiful to look at – and so many people comment – it is beautiful to wear - your craftsmanship matches your artistic flair. Thank you so much – we’ll be back.- Sydney, Australia
Wow what a ring, the colour is fantastic and it goes really well with my wardrobe. It’s big and bold but also elegant. I love it.– Farnham, Surrey
Just to thank you so much for all the effort you put into the ring and making me feel very comfortable during the design process. From the outset both of you helped me through what was a very daunting task of creating the perfect ring which my wife to be would love wearing every day of her life! To start with I had no idea what I wanted, all I knew was that there were no rings in shops that would fit the bill, they all looked the same. I really wanted to have a hand in designing a ring for Jen and seeing all the different diamonds, coloured stones and the possible layouts, that were within my budget, was brilliant because you could really get a feel of the ring coming together.
I'm sure that you will be seeing me and Jen at some stage next year to talk about the bands.- Salisbury, Wiltshire
